Medical, health and dental services are provided to each teen using the
Mount Sinai Adolescent Center and The Children's Aid Society for Dental
Services. Every teen receives a complete annual physical preceded by
a thorough social and family health inventory. When necessary, physicians
provide confidential contraception and prescriptions. When needed, teens
have weekly meetings with their Family Life/Sex Education professional
on reproductive health issues. Abstinence is emphasized throughout all
program activities as the most desirable behavior for young people. In
this connection, our work is the only scientifically evaluated program
that demonstrates program teens delay the onset of intercourse in comparison
to a control group.
