In addition to learning a new skill that can be enjoyed over a lifetime, participants learn self-discipline and impulse control: a useful quality that can be transferred to other aspects of life.
In this component, participants learn about sports and athletic activities that do not require being part of a team - activities like tennis, swimming, martial arts, golf and weight-lifting. The objective of this component, Dr. Carrera says, "is to help make a connection between the impulse control and self-discipline required to have fun and 'win' in life."
