Each teen is paid a stipend or minimum hourly wage for this training program, and required to deposit it into their individual savings account.
Through alliances with local pediatricians, adolescent health centers, nurse practitioners, dentists and other health professionals, a range of services can be offered on-site or by arrangement for appointments at clinics off-site. Confidential services include a full family, social and individual health history; a comprehensive physical examination; ongoing health education discussions; and contraceptive counseling. The health team includes a reproductive health counselor (also the Family Life/Sex Education teacher) who meets weekly with participants - often informally - to discuss reproductive health issues and answer questions.
